Ouzo and Olives..A Greek Tragedy

Not since the days of the the Trojan War has there been this much drama in Greece.  The land of olives, ouzo, Aristotle and Plato is the talk of the globe.  It is on stage for the first time in a millennium and not for good cause.

You see a once proud people has been mired in debt, disillusionment and denial for eons.  The land of Zeus, Olympus and Athena and its lore of grandeur, intellect, and power are in Greece's very distant past.

Nothing of note besides Jackie O's wedding to Onassis has made head lines this century!

This is what awaits the United States...Almost all parts of the globe get their chance to be on center stage for a passage of time.

Everyone thinks the reign of their nation will last forever, but few study history and see how history and cycles repeat.

Italy, or the home of the Roman Empire, has never come close to achieving its previous glory.

The British Empire, where the sun never set on her lands, is a mere whisper of a nation that ruled the oceans.  For heaven's sake, we almost lost to Argentina in the Falklands war.

Thomas Jefferson said he feared democracy would only last 200 years.  Well, we have, but their are signs all around us that we are on the brink and a smell of revolution is in the air.

The gap between the haves and the have nots has widened.  Corruption and inbreeding in politics and wall street has risen to the boiling point. Organizations like the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street show just how unhappy many of the citizens of the United States are.

Change is a coming.  The United States that we knew is coming to an end.  And as Greece has shown from its history, we will never see the greatness of our country in our lifetime again.
