Pima County Sheriff Sets Off Debate on Price of Free Speech

The tragedy in Tuscon has brought out the talking heads again.  Though there was a moment of grief and sadness shared by most, some could not wait to put forth their agenda.  This time it is not gun control, something much more serious, freedom of speech.

The above article details the Pima County Sheriff and his view that we should strike vitriolic talk from our lexicon.  Here's my response to him...."Go Fuck Yourself!"...How's that for vitriol...Hey, I understand the emotion for saying what he said, as he was referring to the wacko who shot dead the Congresswoman, Judge and others, but getting rid of nasty and unsavory speech will not get rid of the wackos, it will make them ACT more as they cannot express their views!

I hate a lot of things I read and hear, but a free society cannot dictate or sensor what they like and don't like.  Pornography should be limited and zoned for children's sake and threats to any individual should be investigated and in cases prosecuted, as well as hate speech that tries to incite violent behavior,but other than those three conditions, any vitriolic speech that is just anger speech and not inciting speech should be acceptable, especially political banter.

The Sheriff should know that as long as we continue to procreate we will create more wackos. They arrive in this world two ways, through genetic abnormalities, and cultural influences.  I say give them as many outlets as possible to vent their emotions and frustrations; hopefully this will be enough for them not to be violent, because hogtying their 1st amendment rights will cause more to do what they did in Tuscon the other day.

Let's not get carried away with the moment and realize Freedom of Speech is our country's greatest gift to us all.
